About Us
Change a Child's Story.
The Athens CASA/GAL Program is a court-based agency that recruits and trains community volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates who represent the best interests of children involved in juvenile court because of abuse and neglect. The agency governed by Athens County Juvenile Court and is additionally supported by the Friends of Athens CASA non-profit organization.
Community members are invited to support local children in and from foster care by volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, joining the Friends of Athens CASA Board or by making a tax-deductible contribution.
Athens CASA serves any and all children adjudicated abused, neglected and/or dependent by Juvenile Court. There is no charge for Court Appointed Special Advocate services. Athens CASA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.
Athens CASA is partially funded by a grant from the Victim's of Crime Act administered by the Ohio Attorney General's Office and is dedicated to compliance with all federal, state and local requirements.
