Intern Spotlight: Mady Murphy

Mady Murphy is a senior majoring in Social Work at Northern Kentucky University. She is interning with our office for the 2024 Spring Semester. Mady's hometown is Glouster, Ohio.

What brought you to CASA? I am very passionate about serving children within the Appalachian area. I believe it is our duty to make a difference in our communities, and CASA was a perfect chance for that. I get to be a voice for children, allowing me to ensure that our children's rights are protected and preserved.

Why is CASA important to you?  I feel as if CASA is a perfect fit for me because I love to give back to my community while also making a difference. I am surrounded by great people with similar values and passions, which inspires me more. In addition, I love the idea of taking action and advocating for children.

What do you do outside of CASA?

Outside of CASA, I am a waitress at a local restaurant.  How do you wind down or spend your free time?

During my free time, you can find me hiking mountains, on an airplane, journaling, or volunteering my time throughout my community.  What is something people may not know about you?

Something that people may not know about me is that I have a blog to document my trips and experiences and how these have impacted my life! What is something you've learned recently?  Something that I have learned recently is how the initial court process works after an Emergency Removal of a Child. Sitting in hearings, and team meetings, and throwing myself out of my comfort zone has allowed me to obtain so much knowledge in the courtroom setting.
