Davia Jackson is the Social Work Intern at Athens CASA. She is studying social work at Ohio University and will graduate in the Spring of 2021.
What brought you to work for CASA?
I was so interested in social work and wanted to look at different ways you can help that wasn’t just the typical social service aspect. I picked up a flyer up at a career fair and was hooked with being involved.
Why is CASA important?
CASA is important because 1 volunteer can make a difference in so many lives.
What is your favorite CASA memory?
My favorite CASA memory is being apart of the Reindeer games and seeing all the kids excited to see Santa and hearing them singing.
Describe your educational and/or professional background?
I am a senior at Ohio University studying social work.
What do you do outside of work?
Outside of CASA I like to hang with my friends and just make the best of my personal time.
How do you wind down? Any self-care tips?
The way I wind down is by just taking the day for myself, doing things that make me happy like getting my nails done or going to the mall, basically.
What is one thing people may not know about you?
One thing people may not know about me is my favorite thing in the world to eat is frozen yogurt.
What is something interesting you learned recently?
A typical cough is 60 mph while a sneeze is often faster than 100 mph
